Highlights of the Newsletter:

  • Community Gardens: Information on local community gardens in Ranson, Beckley, Martinsburg, and Grafton.
  • Key Resources: Details about the Salvation Army Buckhannon Center, Upshur Cooperative Parish House, WIC Nutrition Services, and FARMacy WV Programs.
  • Fun Summer Ideas: Quick and nutritious recipes like pickle cheeseburger bites and creative activities like making snack necklaces with kids.

The QIS Network Leadership Summit for child care center directors is scheduled for this June in Bridgeport, WV. Space is limited, and once the summit is filled, registration will be closed. This event also meets the requirements for a Tier II approved conference.

“A total solar eclipse is a rare occurrence and understanding whether the eclipse will affect your program can help you plan accordingly.”

Prepare for the April 8th Solar Eclipse: Safety Tips and Resources

On April 8th, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada.  A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun.  The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. The next solar eclipse that can be seen from the contiguous United States in 2044.

Our TA partners developed this resource as a request from another region. The resource has information and health and safety tips for lead agencies and child care programs.  Also, the resource will be posted on the CCTAN website.

Caregiver Staff Bonus FY23-24

WVECTCR is pleased to announce the availability of the Caregiver Staff Bonus for classroom teachers and aides currently working in a WV licensed child care center, licensed family child care facility, licensed family child care home, licensed out of school time center or licensed Head Start
center. Eligible applicants must have worked for 6 consecutive months prior to application for a minimum of 20 hours per week. Enrollment period is March 1-22, 2024.

Deadline to Respond – January 4, 2024

Winter brings its own set of challenges, especially for organizations like MountainHeart Community Services, Inc. As snow blankets the landscape, the need for efficient and reliable snow removal becomes paramount. MountainHeart is inviting qualified and experienced snow removal contractors to submit proposals for ensuring safe and accessible spaces for the community we serve.

ONe Final Round

The Division of Early Care and Education Announces One Final Round of American Rescue Plan Stabilization Payments

While the September 2023 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) stabilization payment was originally meant to be the final disbursement of funds, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau for Family Assistance, Division of Early Care and Education has enough leftover funding to award one extra payment to child care providers. Due to the amount of the leftover funding, this extra payment will be slightly less than the standard monthly payment amount. You do not have to do anything additional to receive this payment. The extra payments will be distributed to all providers on the September 2023 ARPA stabilization payment list. The Division is happy to have helped deliver these ARP Stabilization funds to you while they were available. We hope they have been helpful to you.
